INDIA'S NUCLEAR POWER SUBMARINES "INS ARIHANT" TAKE 18 MONTHS MORE TO BECOME OPERATIONAL

The country's long awaited "INS Arihant" a nuclear power weapon finally being revealed by the Indian Prime minister on Saturday. The prime minister said it marked "a giant stride" towards enhancing the country's security. Only the Big-5- the US, Russia, China, the UK and France- currently operate nuclear powered submarine armed with nuclear-
tipped missiles. 

"Checking and re-checking of all the machinery, systems and sub-systems of the 6,000-tonnes submarine at the heavilly -guarded ship building centre at Visakhapatnam. This machine "even if everything goes well, will still take a minimum of another 18 months to become fully operational and go on deterrent patrols. 

Another reality check is that the 110-meter long and 11-meter wide "INS Arihant" will initially be armed with the K-15 ballistic missiles that have a strike range of 750-km. This heavy submarine can destroy the enemy in few seconds with their powerful missile system. By this nuclear powered submarine India proved themselves to be a great power in the world.
