If you have seen the Indian movie “Three idiots” then
you must have recognised this spy robot . This spy robot is a three-pound
flying machine that can, control itself without use of any human navigation. This
spy robot can fly through a window into a house, avoid security lasers, navigate the
halls, identify signs, enter the desired room, find a flash drive in a box on a
desk, pick it up, leave a decoy, exit and land in under 10 minutes.
What components spy robot has?
- A quadrotor,
- A helicopter with four propellers, that the students assembled and programmed nearly from scratch,
- Body made up of carbon fiber,
- Two lasers,
- Two video cameras,
- Three computers of varying complexity,
- A backup radio,
- An inertial measurement unit,
- A motion sensor and
- A retractable spool of fishing line with a magnet as the bait.
How does spy robot work?
The
lasers scan the environment so the craft can draw a map of its surroundings in
its program. That's how spy robot knows where the entry window is, and how it
avoids crashing into the walls.
The video cameras collect the data for the image
processing programs, which can identify signs as well as the prized flash
drive.
The motion sensors keep tabs on the quadrotor's
flight angles and position, measuring the distance and direction it has
traveled from the starting point.
The magnet's role is to grab the flash
drive.
As the spy robot is not human controlling machine
(though this requires an override switch for emergencies).
It can help our army in many missions and its development will result in our favor many spy robots have been made before, but this is unique autonomous spy robot which can think automatically its ways. As everything has advantages as well as disadvantages this spy robot can also be use for wrong sake so the spy robot must be have in good hands.
