World space week:the world-wide Mars Simulation from october 4-10

World space week:the world-wide Mars Simulation from october 4-10World Space Week - it is an one of its kind astronomical event celebrated every year from 4th-10th October by the astronomical community in the world. Every year a theme is fixed and based on that theme various astronomy related events, competitions, seminars, movie screening, observation, essay writing, debate, discussions, tattoo making etc are organised. It is an UN declared astronomical event. There is a significance of both the dates 4th October and 10th October, 4th October, 1957 was the day when first man made satellite"sputnik" was launched and on 10th October 1967 a treaty was signed governing principle of exploration of
celestial bodies and moon among states. This year's theme of world space week is "exploring Mars - discovering Earth".

This week is all about for the red planet: MARS.  Mars Curiosity is the largest rover ever brought to another planet, discovering new features of the Red Planet every day, because it is the nearest planet of the earth in our universe rather than other planet. In 2018 people will see the planet from cup close through Dennis Tito's Inspiration mars fly-by mission, on the other hand other organisation  are planning the first man landing mission near two decades.

World space week:the world-wide Mars Simulation from october 4-10

That is the more reason to take a closer look of mars exploration during world space week from October 4-10 in 2013. You will see that what we are learning about mars but also learning about ourselves. Mars gives us knowledge about life. And also what world we want to live in. how we can used our limited resources on the planet to build a new civilisation. We have to learn how can we create environment that support human life without this resources, without destroying critical elements needed to sustain other planetary processes. Learning that we can apply to other planets, but also to our earth.

We hope this theme will inspire our event organisers to reach out to schools, universities, astronomy clubs, community centers, space industry events and wherever we can celebrate space. Please contact your national coordinator to find out how easy it is to create your own event. Please help us tell the world about "Exploring Mars, Discovering Earth".
